NOURISH by The Big Salad will donate 5% of all sales Monday, Jan. 25, to AL!VE’s FITKids program.
The Fitness Initiative Targeting Kids after-school program teaches junior high and middle school students how to have fun and be safe while being more physically active and eating healthier foods. The curriculum was developed through a collaboration with Sparrow. The 2016 program will kick off in early fall.
FITKids focuses on physical activity, healthy meal preparation and nutrition education. It includes healthy snacks for the participating students, free transportation from Charlotte Middle School by Eatran, and a free membership to MOVE, the fitness center at AL!VE, for all who complete the program. FITKids at AL!VE is coordinated by Deb Dillon, MS, RDN, the clinical dietitian at Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital.
“This is a great program that teaches students healthy habits they can carry forward through their lifetime,” said John Bornoty, The Big Salad founder and CEO. “We are excited to support and be part of the many efforts AL!VE makes to inspire the community to enhance their well-being.”
