Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine

Jamie Mueller-Smith, D.O., practices osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal medicine in EMPOWER at AL!VE, as part of HGB's rehabilitation services.

The practice of ONMM directs special attention to the structural aspects of body motion and function, and their role in disease management. It involves enhanced knowledge of osteopathic principles, which treat medical disorders by restoring the body’s natural ability to move through a variety of gentle techniques applied to soft tissues, muscles, joints and their related structures. These are integrated into the care of patients of all ages, especially connected to primary care, neurology, rheumatology, gynecology, sports medicine, orthopedics and rehabilitation.

Dr. Mueller-Smith recently completed her Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine residency at Michigan State University, where she is also an assistant clinical professor. She earned her degree as a Doctor of Osteopathy at the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine, and her bachelor’s degree in health sciences at Oakland University.

Dr. Mueller-Smith is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and the American Academy of Osteopathy.

Dr. Mueller-Smith sees patients 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday in EMPOWER. AL!VE is located at 800 W. Lawrence Ave., in Charlotte, Mich. Patients who believe they can benefit from ONMM services should talk to their primary care provider about a referral.
