Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce construction begins this week on its health park, AL!VE. An expansion will accommodate the growth of the hospital’s cardiopulmonary rehabilitation services, which will move from the hospital’s main campus to AL!VE in 2017.
In September 2015, HGB began offering LSVT BIG therapy services to treat individuals with movement problems related to Parkinson’s Disease and other neurological disorders. Those services have now further been expanded to include LSVT LOUD, a voice and speech treatment specifically developed for Parkinson’s patients.
Charlotte Public Schools offers free concussion testing to its student athletes as part of the ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) program in partnership with EMPOWER, HGB rehabilitation services provided at AL!VE. ImPACT is the most widely used, scientifically validated, computerized concussion evaluation system. It helps assess an athlete’s cognitive status by comparing the baseline test to a post-concussion test when necessary.
Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital is sponsoring the matinee showing of the movie, Concussion, at Eaton Theatres, 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 16. Students will be able to attend the movie for free with their identification. Student athletes are especially encouraged to attend with their parents to learn about the importance of concussion testing and to better understand the risks and symptoms for those who play contact sports including football, volleyball, soccer, competitive cheer, basketball, wrestling, baseball and softball.

The presentation includes a brief demonstration.
