MOVE at AL!VE introduces CrossFit

MOVE, the fitness center at AL!VE, welcomes CrossFit Fade to its wide-ranging list of fitness programs offered. Led by certified kettle bell trainer Eric McGill, CrossFit is intended for all ages and fitness levels.

CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program with the goal of helping improve cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy. CrossFit optimizes fitness through varied functional movements performed at a relatively high intensity, McGill said.

Celebrate family health and fitness at AL!VE

The 4th annual Family Health & Fitness Day celebration is 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 27. This free annual event offers a variety of interactive family activities and educational experiences.

“We are committed at AL!VE to creating a healthier community,” said Jake Campbell, AL!VE health and wellness manager. “This starts with educating families now, and continuing to pass on that knowledge to future generations. Family Health and Fitness Day is one way we can share and support that education process.”

AL!VE expansion adds fitness center, children’s recreation area and conference space

AL!VE, the experience-based, destination health park in Charlotte, Mich., has expanded its facilities, programming and hours; increasing the services and experiences offered to the mid-Michigan community.

The 20,000-square-foot expansion opened Monday, Dec. 10 and it took approximately 10 months to complete. Construction began in March 2012 and 90 percent was completed using vendors and labor within a 50 mile radius of AL!VE.

Hayes Green Beach Wellness Center plans health, fitness day

CHARLOTTE — The Hayes Green Beach Wellness Center once again celebrates National Family Health and Fitness Day with a free event and activities for the whole family Saturday, Sept. 29.

According to Family Health & Fitness Day USA, the annual observance was conceived, in part, as a response to the U.S. Surgeon General's Report on Physical Activity and Health.
